Two Washington legislators plan to introduce legislation that would help protect health care workers who handle oncology drugs, the Seattle Times reported. Sen. Karen Keiser, D-Kent, and Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle, told the paper that they plan to introduce two bills this session aimed at protecting employees who work with chemotherapy. Keiser's bill would require the state cancer registry to capture occupational data from cancer patients; whereas Kohl-Welles' bill would create an occupational safety standard for oncology clinics.
