Bills that would expand benefits for injured public safety workers and restrict the ability of employers to deny medical treatment are pending votes in the California state Senate after approval by the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee last week.The committee on Thursday voted 5-1 to approve Assembly Bill 1227 by Mike Feuer, D-Los Angeles. The bill would entitle school district and community college police officers and deputized local park rangers to Labor Code Section 4850 benefits, which provides for one year's paid leave of absence while recovering from industrial injuries...
