A bill moving through the Colorado legislature seeks to clarify the coverage requirements for independent contractors who drive commercial vehicles. Contractors who drive commercial trucks with a gross vehicle weight of more than 16,000 pounds that are used in commerce and on public highways must carry workers’ compensation coverage or a private insurance policy that provides similar coverage.
