A Georgia auto parts manufacturer is facing proposed federal penalties of $129,336 after a worker suffered a finger amputation.
HP Pelzer Systems Automotive Inc. was issued a citation for one repeat safety violation on Jan. 19 by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The proposed penalties are the maximum amount allowed, OSHA said. The company has 15 business days to contest the citation.
OSHA investigators found that the employee was removing a gear box motor from a scissor lift when it rotated, severing the tip of the employee’s finger.
