Labor Department Proposes New Lower-Extremity Guidelines

The Montana Department of Labor and Industry is proposing to adopt recommendations for treating lower-extremity injuries as part of the annual update to its workers’ compensation treatment guidelines.

The department said it recently finished drafting the new treatment recommendations for injuries from the hip down to the foot. It is proposing to incorporate the new chapter into its treatment guidelines to cover treatment provided on or after Jan. 1.

The department will accept written comments on the proposed treatment guideline update until 5 p.m. on Oct. 6. Comments can be sent to Maralyn Lytle, Employment Relations Division, P.O. Box 8011, Helena, Montana 59604-8011. Comments can also be sent by fax to 406-444-4140, or by email to mlytle@mt.gov.

A public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 8 in the Sanders building, 111 N. Sanders St. in Helena.
