Post-traumatic stress disorder would be presumed compensable for New Mexico firefighters, under a bill heading to the governor’s desk.
The Senate on Friday voted 34-5 to pass House Bill 324, by Rep. Deborah A. Armstrong, D-Albuquerque. The bill would add PTSD to the list of cancers and other conditions that are presumed to be compensable for firefighters when not diagnosed during a pre-employment medical screening.
Armstrong has not amended the bill since the House of Representatives voted 58-4 to pass the measure on Feb. 28.
The bill will now go to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
