Recent amendments to a bill that passed out of committee last week eliminated language that would have allowed workers’ compensation carriers to tap into California’s prescription drug-monitoring database.
Two days after the Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Economic Development voted 8-1 to pass AB 528, Assemblyman Evan Low, D-Silicon Valley, removed language that would have directed the Department of Justice to promulgate rules for comp to review information from the Controlled Substances Utilization Review and Evaluation System, or CURES.
