The latest wage-loss study by Rand Corp. points to a need to further refine California’s system for rating permanent disability, according to comments submitted to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation.
A Rand working paper posted in February reported that permanently disabled workers experience large earnings losses. On average, a worker with a permanent disability will have a 28% reduction in earnings in the second year following an injury.
