The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced compensation will be paid to all workers at the Ames Laboratory from 1955 to 1960 who filed claims that they developed at least one of 22 types of cancers after being exposed to radiation at the facility.Ames Laboratory is a government-owned, contractor-operated research facility of the U.S. Department of Energy that is run by Iowa State University in Ames.Sen.
