An international grain handling and logistics company has been cited for exposing its staff to grain dust explosion and fall hazards at its facility in Tribute, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced last Thursday.
The Scoular Co., based in Omaha, Neb., faces $47,300 in proposed penalties for the five citations, including one repeat violation. That one was for not establishing a written housekeeping program to control the accumulation of dust on various surfaces. Inspectors found about an inch of grain dust on legs in one boot pit, and an excessive amount in another....
