Thirty-eight workers died on the job in Idaho in 2004 -- five fewer than the previous year, according to the Idaho Industrial Commission's census of workplace fatalities.
The annual loss of life on the job has averaged fewer than 40 people per year in Idaho, according to Bureau of Labor statistics. Forty-three people died in 2003, the previous year for which statistic are available.
Of the 38 deaths in 2004, 14 occurred in natural resources and mining classifications; 11 in trade, transportation and utilities; six in manufacturing and three in construction.
