BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Co. reported 1,722 workers' compensation insurance policies were canceled Jan. 1 for nonpayment of premiums which were due Dec. 8.
BrickStreet spokesman Andy Wessels told WorkCompCentral some of those policies are in the process of being reinstated through the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner.
If the commissioner certifies that the business is eligible for coverage, BrickStreet then will issue a new policy, Wessels reported.
Approximately 1,425 policies were canceled in 2006.
