Members of a small east Tennessee community have raised more than $50,000 to support a wounded deputy who is without workers' compensation, a local Knoxville TV station reported.
WBIR-TV announced that the Hancock County community has united to support Deputy Randy White, who was shot in the line of duty in February. Since the incident, he has been hospitalized at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The county job did not offer either workers' compensation nor health insurance, so the community have rallied to raise private donations for the deputy and his family.
