Philadelphia City Councilman Rick Mariano was found guilty Friday of influence-peddling and accepting bribes from businessmen looking to secure sweetheart public deals.
Prosecutors at trial said that Mariano collected $30,000 in exchange for his influence. A public workers' compensation contract with the schools figured into the councilman's criminal activities, court records show.
