Shane Mambro of Boston was all set to collect insurance money for a knee injury he blamed on a pothole until his criminal past tripped him up. The Haverhill resident pleaded guilty last week to two counts of insurance-related fraud after admitting he made up a story about falling in a parking lot and hurting himself. Only the day before, he tried to run from police and was arrested -- and the paperwork from that incident was used to convict him, according to the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.
