A Pennsylvania state lawmaker introduced legislation that penalizes any employer who removes safety equipment by raising workers' compensation benefits and potentially subjects the employer to civil action for a death. Rep. Mark Cohen, D-Philadelphia, is sponsoring a bill that would award an injured worker a 50% increase in workers' compensation if an employer is found to have knowingly removed a safety device that would have prevented the injury.
