Emergency Volunteer Groups Get Comp Restored

CA Gov. Gray Davis reversed an inadvertent deletion of workers' compensation coverage for various volunteer rescue groups, including the California Rescue Dog Association (CRDA), this week.In signing the state's $3.5 billion in budget cuts last month, Davis apparently cut funding for work comp coverage volunteers in several public safety organizations, one of them being the CRDA. As a consequence, members were told last week that they could no longer perform their service without the mandatory coverage.On Tuesday, Davis ordered the state Office of Emergency Services to pay $219,000 for workers...
