SB 1829 Amended - Rehab Settlement $12K

In a complete reversal, SB 1829, the bill introduced by California Senator Richard Polanco, was amended on 4/1 to provide that payment for the one time settlement of a vocational rehabilitation case may be up to $12,000, up from the original $5000, and existing law (yet to be effective) of $10,000 as introduced by AB 749. The bill would authorize applicants represented by an attorney and who receive notice from the employer that there is no modified or alternative work available, to apply for a self directed vocational rehabilitation plan.
