Fremont to Close 16 Offices

In a 12/14/00 press release Fremont General Corporation (NYSE: FMT) (the 'Company') announced that the Company's workers' compensation insurance operations (the 'insurance operations') will be closing 16 of its 24 production and claim servicing offices in continuating efforts by the Company to reduce operating expenses to levels considered appropriate for expected reductions in workers' compensation premium writings (not to mention regulatory supervision, ED.).
