LOS ANGELES -- A proposed increase in fees for evaluation and management procedures would add $78.7 million to California workers' compensation costs, but physicians said during a public hearing here Wednesday that they hope the increase is just an "interim step."
No insurers spoke against an increase proposed by the Division of Workers' Compensation for Current Procedural Codes (CPT) 99201 through 99215, although the California Workers' Compensation Institute (CWCI) submitted a report showing the proposal would increase payment for those codes an average of 23%.
