Following a weekend Kansas City Star report about the low dollar amounts of fines issued against companies for fatalities and serious injuries, one Missouri congressman said that he would support a bill that sets the fines.
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a Missouri Democrat, said this week that he supports legislation to raise fines, some of which have been $3,000 in cases involving loss of life.
"It's just wrong," Cleaver said.
