A jury last week found former Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher guilty of embezzlement and perjury, settling the first of five corruption cases filed against him, according to press reports.
Fisher, a Tulsa Democrat, is accused of depositing a $1,000 campaign contribution into a personal account. He resigned the insurance commissioner's post in September 2004 after the state House impeached him.
The jury voted that Fisher serve one year in prison and be fined $10,000 for embezzlement. For the perjury charge, the jury recommended two years in prison and another $10,000 fine.
