Cigna HealthCare Announces Payment System

Cigna HealthCare said Tuesday it launched HealthePass, a payment system designed to enhance management of health care costs, shorten payment time to providers and eliminate some collections. HealthePass uses the American Express "hold-and-settle" process, which reserves the patient's payment from their funding source, such as a health savings account or line of credit, and releases the patient payment when the insurance claim is settled.
