The Sacramento Bee reported on Friday that California Governor Gray Davis unveiled his own proposed workers compensation package that calls for increased use of managed-care systems in diagnosing and treating injured workers.
It was reported that Senate President John Burton, proponent of SB 71, called Davis' plan a 'political mistake and a moral mistake'.
The Bee reported that Burton characterized the governor's plan as a slap in the face to labor and that a veto of SB 71 would ignite a ballot initiative.
