Davis Proposes Own Work Comp Reform Bill

The Sacramento Bee reported on Friday that California Governor Gray Davis unveiled his own proposed workers compensation package that calls for increased use of managed-care systems in diagnosing and treating injured workers. It was reported that Senate President John Burton, proponent of SB 71, called Davis' plan a 'political mistake and a moral mistake'. The Bee reported that Burton characterized the governor's plan as a slap in the face to labor and that a veto of SB 71 would ignite a ballot initiative.
