The Louisiana Department of Labor wants students, parents and employers to make the grade this school year when it comes to knowing the facts about the state's child-labor laws.
"Employers and parents should know there are age-specific regulations that affect when and how long minors can work," said LDOL Assistant Secretary of Regulatory Services Marianne Sullivan, whose office enforces these laws. "Underage workers are bound by special employment laws year round, but during the school year these protections become more intense."
