Workers' compensation carriers would be required to treat artificial limbs as "natural limbs" under legislation proposed by Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin.
The bill joins a measure filed earlier regarding coverage for prosthetic and orthotic devices under insurance coverage.
Information furnished by Watson's office on Senate Bill 458 reports that currently there are no definitions for "orthotic device" or "prosthetic device" in the sections of the Labor Code or Insurance Code that govern worker's compensation.
