New York Workers' Compensation Board Chairwoman Donna Ferrara Tuesday ordered three businesses to close immediately for failing to comply with workers' compensation laws, using new authority granted under the reform bill championed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
The largest business was a trucking company with 20 employees at its Oswego facility that has a history of noncompliance, the Workers' Compensation Board said in a press release. The other two businesses are located in the Bronx and Albany.
