Insured claim frequency fell 13% in
calendar year 2004 and declines in medical-only and indemnity claim rates pushed the overall claim frequency to a new low, the California Workers' Compensation Institute said this week.
The institute surveyed 24 insurers that wrote more than 75% of the statewide direct written premium in 2004. CWCI noted 37.8 medical-only claims and 21.4 indemnity claims per $1 million of adjusted earned premium in 2004.
