Draft rules released on Tuesday would require California claims administrators to electronically submit medical data to the Division of Workers' Compensation starting March 1.
The DWC posted the proposed rules, which would expand its Workers' Compensation Information System, on the "forums" section of its Web site. The rules would also impose penalties of up to $5,000 a year against claims administrators who fail to make electronic data submissions to the DWC.
DWC spokeswoman Susan Gard said the DWC hopes to use the medical information to track costs and measure system efficiency.
