Panel Extends Benefits to Some Rocky Flats Workers

Former employees who developed cancer from a shuttered nuclear bomb plant outside Denver won a narrow victory last week in the battle over benefits for the nation's Cold War defense workforce. The Advisory Board on Radiation of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) agreed Thursday to recommend that people who worked at the plant between 1952 and 1958 and who were exposed to radiation from neutrons should be included in NIOSH's Special Exposure Cohort (SEC).
