Workplace injuries in Ohio have dropped 30 percent since 1997, according to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. The bureau said this week 184,810 Ohioans put in worker's compensation claims in 2004, down from 263,179 workers injured in 1997 and 237,145 in 2003. According to American City Business Journals, Bureau Administrator James Conrad said the decline is a result of bureau safety programs and greater awareness by employers about how to prevent injuries.
