South Carolina employers face another double-digit rate increase this year, despite a reform bill that state lawmakers had hoped would slash costs from the system.
Although state Insurance Director Scott Richardson denied a 23.7% rate hike proposed by the National Council on Compensation Insurance, he said he would accept an 11% rate increase effective Dec. 1, followed by an additional 5% increase on Dec. 1, 2008, said Amy Quinn, South Carolina state relations executive for NCCI.
