Grocery Clerk Sentenced for Faked Injury on Tape

A Baltimore, MD, city resident and grocery store clerk, John Allen, pled guilty in Baltimore County District Court to a false claim against IWIF, Maryland's largest workers' compensation insurance carrier. Allen received probation before judgment, was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and pay $55 in court fees. Allen had first filed a back injury claim and applied for Temporary Total benefits with the Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission on February 18, 2002. Allen alleged he sustained a back injury and paralysis when boxes he had stacked at the grocery store had fallen...
