Medical provider networks in Texas will not produce savings overnight in the state's workers' compensation system and are likely to inspire some complaints as "legacy claims" from the previous system are processed, an Austin attorney warned an Insurance Council of Texas seminar.
Robert Stokes of Flahive, Ogden and Latson noted that under legislation passed in 2005, workers' compensation claims from 1991 to 2005 will be "rolled over into networks" if the insurance carrier responsible for those claims chooses to use a network.
