IL Senator Edgar Criticized for Kemper Involvement

Crain's Chicago Business on 5/9/03 said that former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar's connection to Kemper Insurance Co is a main reason he is not going to seek reelection in the U.S. Senate. Edgar is a Kemper Board member, joining the group February 1999, just weeks after signing into law legislation that would have allowed Kemper to partially de-mutualize (a move the company never executed).
