The New York State Insurance Fund on Tuesday announced the arrests of a claimant and a business owner for workers' compensation fraud.
Following an investigation by NYSIF's Division of Confidential Investigations, the Orange County Sheriff's Office on May 18 arrested 31-year-old Philip Mathew Young, of Crawford, N.Y., on charges of falsifying business records and forgery, both felonies.
Young allegedly submitted a fraudulent certificate of insurance to obtain work from a general contractor, indicating Young's company, Affordable Paving, had workers' compensation insurance with NYSIF. Invest...
