The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. (NYSE: HIG) yesterday said its fourth
quarter and full-year earnings for 2002 increased substantially, as the
company took advantage of firm pricing in the property-casualty market, while
minimizing the impact of the prolonged bear market on equity market-driven
business in its life operations.
"Our results prove that our diverse business platform can withstand market
turbulence and generate profitable growth," said Ramani Ayer, The Hartford's
chairman and CEO.
