Starting next week, Minnesota pharmacists will be able to start billing workers' comp carriers electronically -- the same way they do business with the rest of the insurance industry.
At least in theory.
Regulations by the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Division that take effect next Thursday create, on paper, an electronic billing system that is in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
The innovation puts the relatively small state, with a 2000 population of just 4.9 million, ahead of giants such as California and Texas that are still strugglin...
