A mercury spill in a Texas occupational medicine clinic left five people hospitalized Wednesday, according to a newspaper report.
Workers at The Center for OccuHealth and Industrial Medicine in McAllen were evacuated for several hours, starting just after noon, while hazardous materials teams isolated the toxic chemical, McAllen Fire Department spokesman Lt. Rene Alaniz told The Monitor.
The clinic manager told The Monitor that the mercury had leaked from a blood pressure gauge that was being replaced.
