Zella Cocherell, a claimant seeking worker's compensation from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, was an employee and not an independent contractor, and was therefore eligible to receive benefits, the Iowa Court of Appeals ruled.
Based on detailed findings of fact on the part of the workers' compensation commissioner, it was determined that Cocherell was an employee. On judicial review, the district court supported the findings of the commission, as did the Court of Appeals.
