The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board granted a petition filed by labor activists seeking safety standards for workers exposed to a chemical used in the manufacture of buttered popcorn.
The issue now goes back to an advisory committee of the state Occupational Safety and Health Division, which must decide whether to propose emergency measures or a permanent exposure standard, an official for the board said Friday.
