Nurse case management programs with methadone or chronic pain patients may be safe, a new Canadian study suggested.
Methadone for chronic pain requires significant follow-up to prevent adverse effects. The program offered a primary education session, telephone follow-up during methadone titration, and a maintenance period. Of the 75 patients, none reported a serious mortality or morbidity.
