Union Wants SCIF Hiring Freeze Lifted

Workers at the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) and the union that represents them are pleased with yesterday's announcement that the California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers Compensation is urging Gov. Gray Davis to lift a hiring freeze the state has imposed on the billion dollar agency. The California State Employees Association (CSEA), Local 1000, SEIU, which represents more than 5,000 workers at SCIF offices throughout the state, also calls for an end to the freeze.
