Marsh Sued for Placing Times Mirror with Reliance

Media reports through out the nation on Saturday revealed that Marsh & McLennan Cos. has been sued in Los Angeles Superior Court by the Tribune Co., owner of several newspapers including the Los Angeles Times and 26 television stations, for recommending that the company transfer its workers' compensation operations to Reliance National Indemnity. Marsh Inc. in 1998 recommended that Times Mirror Co. move from self insurance to policies underwritten by Reliance. Tribune Co., based in Chicago, purchased Times Mirror in 2000. Reliance subsequently went insolvent and was liquidated in October 2001....
