The Oregon Workers' Compensation Division has issued a bulletin advising that under most circumstances, oral prescription medications dispensed by physicians are not
compensable within the Oregon workers' compensation law. While physicians may dispense
oral medications if licensed to do so within the scope of their practices, these services are not
compensable within the Oregon workers' compensation system unless dispensed in an
emergency situation. (OAR 436-010-0230(6): "Except in an emergency, drugs and medicine for
oral consumption supplied by a physician's office are not compensable."...
