Denise Chapman's holiday gift was an award from the New York State's Workers' Compensation Board upholding a workers' compensation judge's grant of benefits to cover advanced Lyme disease. After fighting for five years, the Board voted Tuesday to uphold a decision granting disability benefits to the former city EMT who claimed that she caught Lyme disease while performing her job as an emergency medical technician.
