North Dakota House members rejected a proposal to move an office for assisting injured workers with disputes from the Workforce Safety and Insurance Agency (WSI) to the Department of Labor.
Rep. Jasper Schneider, D-Fargo, proposed moving the Office of Independent Review from WSI, arguing that the office "isn't truly independent."
The office handles cases in which workers' benefit claims were denied or delayed.
The office is part of WSI and is funded through that agency.
