A bill introduced to the U.S. Senate last week with bipartisan sponsorship would streamline the way the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approves set-asides in workers’ compensation settlement cases.
The bill, S 2731, was introduced by Sens. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., and Rob Portman, R-Ohio, on Thursday, just before Congress adjourned for the summer. It is closely patterned after another bipartisan measure in the House, HR 1982, which has hardly moved since it was introduced 15 months ago.
