Consumer Advocate and Businesses Opposing 7.3% Rate Hike

South Carolina Consumer Advocate Elliott Elam Jr. and the Small Business Chamber of Commerce have asked the state's administrative court to schedule a contested hearing in response to a call by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) to increase loss costs in the voluntary market by 7.3%, effective July 1.Elam said in a notice filed with the South Carolina Administrative Law Court on April 10 the proposal includes maximum increases of 35% for some jobs in the manufacturing sector and 32% for some jobs in the goods-and-services sector.The South Carolina Business Chamber of Com...
