Pageant Contestant Convicted of Fraud

A contestant in the 2014 Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach beauty pageant who said she was unable to work because of a broken toe pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of workers' compensation fraud, the California Department of Insurance announced. Shawna Lynn Palmer of Riverside was sentenced to 36 months of probation, ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and more than $5,000 in restitution.
